Pastor Hayse Moss
It was time to plow my field of corn and when I came home from work at
Central Foundry Company, I said to my wife that I was going to the field.
When
I finally found the mule, he was at the backside of the 60 acre pasture
looking at me as though he knew what I planned to do next. The mule must
have had some kind of gift because he had knowledge that I was going to
plow him. If I were not going to plow him, the mule would be at the barn;
if I was going to plow him, he would be at the backside of the pasture. It
was plain that the mule did not like me. He would act so gentle around
everyone and then when I got around him, he would try to kick me and tear
up my rows. When I did get him hitched up to plow, he would just take off
and I would have a hard time controlling him. I said to myself, "you
sorry mule, I am going to plow you today or else".
While I was struggling with the mule, on top of the hill. Jesus
appeared to me and said, "Today is the day you can run from me no
longer. This is it! You can begin to serve me or it is all over." He
spoke to me about what I must do because he had called me. God gave me a
choice that day. I had run from God until I could run no longer. I had to
make my choice now. I said, " Jesus, have mercy on me, let me live
Lord." The Lord said, "Everything shall be different for you
and yours from this day forward." I felt a new feeling come upon
me, Jesus blessed me right then; and there, a great light from Him came
upon me and I began to shout. I felt so good. He disappeared and I knew I
was different. I tried to think of a bad word but could not find any. I
had a smile on my face and a different outlook on God. What I had been
running from was what I needed. That great light drew out all the
darkness. I don’t know how many devils left me that day but I was
delivered.

After this encounter, I decided to go on and plow my mule. Sure enough
he was back into a corner waiting for me so he could give me a hard time.
As I walked up to him and he looked at me and I looked at him it seemed
like the mule smiled at me. The mule then brushed up against me like he
loved me and the mule walked on.
All the time I thought it was the mule. But, it wasn’t the mule, it
was me. The mule could tell something had happened to me. I thought it was
everyone else, it was not everyone else, it was me. Today the mule let me
ride him back to the barn.
I ran from the barn to my house and told my wife. My wife’s maiden name is
Patsy Johnson. We both went to Gordo high school together. I said to Patsy
who had been
going to church every Sunday for years, "I am saved." She said, "What did
you say?" I said, "Patsy I am saved." She then said, "Are you alright?" I
was laughing and happy. She said, "What has happened to you?" I told her
about my experience on the hill. She said to me, "I don’t know about that,
you have not even been to church yet. She had been attending church and
taking our four children for years. She was happy but also shocked. About
that time, there was a knock on the door and it was the local pastor. He
said, " I was leaving town and the Spirit spoke to me to come see you and
your wife". I said, "come in pastor, I am saved." He said, "You what?" "I
am saved, I am saved," I said, "I got saved on the hill." He said, "You
did!" and he looked at my wife with a surprising look on his face. My wife
then told the preacher, "That is what he told me." I then said to my wife,
"I tell you Patsy, I am different, something has happened to me, Jesus had
mercy on me and I am alive."
Since that day, my wife and I have never been the
same. My wife was an excellent musician. I would preach and she would play
the organ. We started ministering in the streets, in tents, in buildings,
and in churches, which we loved. We love the church. I am still preaching
the message that Jesus gave me. He asked me to lift Him up as God, lift up
His name, and preach him high and exalted. We are still doing it today.
Jesus is Lord. Jesus is his name. He is exalted.
